The ALBA Latin American nations have rejected the draft resolution against Syria at the UN, stating “The project resolution reflects the claims of those interfering in the internal affairs of Syria, without contributing to dialogue or the search for peace.” Corporate media have confused the masses into believing opposition is limited to Russia and China, often reporting atrocities of the Syrian government without evidence, just as they did in leading us into the illegal invasion of Iraq.
And Defense Secretary Panetta said the US is losing patience with Pakistan, as though Pakistan is the nation doing the drone bombing of us. This after President Obama refused to apologize for the US slaughtering 24 Pakistani soldiers months ago, who were said to have been working on behalf of the US to stop infiltration of militants across the Afghan border. This insanity passes as “foreign policy,” and it is no wonder most Americans are confused about what is happening in “AfPak.”

Much as I’m opposed to involvement in yet another conflict, I think it’s fairly unmistakable that the conflict in Syria IS government-driven. Certainly, if “terrorists” were doing all the killing, as Assad claims, his own army must be pretty weak not to be able to stop it and any responsible leader in the same situation would be calling for help from other countries to save his people. Thus, Assad must only b “responsible” in the causative sense. The “media” has nothing to do with my opinion, just common sense. So, as far as I’m concerned, it is the Syrian government who is behind the slaughter there, and it has to stop.
